No one would eat a gourmet meal if it was served to them on a trash can lid. This is quite obvious to anyone. But when you analyses the reasoning it can shed some light on not only personal fashion, and what it does for the individual, but on how companies and manufactures apply this principle to make their businesses profitable. So why won't we eat a meal from a trash can lid? Because the presentation is terrible. When you see a trash can lid the only thing that you think about is garbage. This is as it should be, however, when the meal is served on a silver platter, the whole situation changes.
It all comes down to presentation, if things not only look good themselves but also are presented properly the appreciation on the part of the customer and consumer is that much greater. Let's look at some examples.

How do manufacturers or major companies pitch their clothing products to buyers? The answer is simple, fashion shows. Thy have beautiful or handsome people walk down a cat walk wearing their clothing. You would think that they could just as easily show there merchandises on a mannequin but that would detract from the delivery. They put new clothing on beautiful people so that the picture is enhanced, and it works! The don't serve meals on trash can lids.
I will digress for a moment; the same thing can be applied to clothing or fashion in general. What we wear not only enhances our appeal but also tells people something about ourselves. This is why the concept of fashion exists to begin with. If clothing did not enhance our looks or convey our personalities to others, then we would only wear clothing to protect ourselves from the elements. But that is beside the point.
The same idea is used every day in every clothing store in the country. Store owners and designers will put their best and latest clothing on mannequins and dress forms to enhance the clothing's appeal. It is not that they simply put the clothing on the mannequins so that I will attract more attention, they do it so that when people look at the fit or slim mannequins they can see themselves as thou they were in perfect shape and are that much more likely to develop an interest in the particular garment. Once again the do not give you a meal on a trash can lid.
This concept of presentation is so pervasive and saturates the market to such an extent that there is not a single successful business that does not put an emphasis on presentation. So if you are getting into any business, fashion, real estate or anything, always remember that without specific targeted focus on presentation, your company will be seriously handicapped.
